What our guides are based on

BestPicks publishes research-based buying guides using published product information. Our current guides do not document hands-on testing. A recommendation based on a product listing is an editorial interpretation, not a measurement of performance.

How to read a guide

Evidence and testing

We distinguish manufacturer claims from our own findings. We do not treat merchant star ratings as ratings collected by BestPicks. If we publish a hands-on test, it must identify the reviewer, test date, procedure, products compared, and original observations or photographs. Without those details, treat the page as research-based.

Editorial tools and accountability

Automated tools have been used to help assemble and draft content on this site. They can make mistakes. A polished page, a date, or an author's name is not a substitute for product evidence. Christopher Hatfield is responsible for BestPicks Reviews; corrections can be sent to [email protected].

Updates and corrections

On September 27, 2026 we corrected unsupported rating markup, research labels, and disclosures. This did not re-test or reverify every product. Existing guide dates should not be taken as a guarantee that a price or specification is current. Material product updates should identify what changed and the sources checked.

How affiliate links support the site

We may earn a commission when you buy through a qualifying affiliate link. Awin and other merchant programs set their own eligibility and attribution terms. Affiliate availability can affect which products we cover; it is not evidence that a product is right for you. Read the affiliate disclosure before using a paid link.

Our publication standard

New and substantially revised guides should have named sources, a clear audience, useful alternatives, honest limitations, and an explanation of how the recommendation was reached. Unverified measurements, invented customer ratings, and claims of testing without evidence do not belong in our guides.
