For work, ask for an answer tied to your exact computer and conferencing app. A successful Bluetooth pairing is only the first step: microphone selection, mute behavior and switching during a call are separate requirements.

Music and calls are different modes

Plan around talk time, with a microphone caveat.

The product’s battery graphic labels the case totals and five-minute quick-charge claim “Without Mic.” The manual does not supply a complete volume/codec/boom-microphone test procedure. We therefore cannot tell you how long continuous work calls with the boom attached will last.

Do not interpret a case total as uninterrupted meeting time or the music figure as call time. If a full day of calls is essential, obtain a boom-attached runtime figure with test conditions before ordering and plan a charging break or backup.

Two app roles

Headset controls and AI services need separate checks.

OpenRock documents Bluetooth setup separately from its AI features. Its OpenRock app page provides iOS and Android links for the control app; the product page names Nebula and an activation code for translation. Do not assume they are the same app or that installing a phone app provides a complete desktop meeting workflow.

We have not verified the exact AI allowance included with this headset, future fees, account requirements, supported languages by mode, offline access, or translation inside your particular meeting platform. Those details matter if AI is the reason you are considering the purchase.

1. Ask for the actual activation and service terms.

   Request the official app link, your included minutes or features, expiration, and any later subscription or usage costs. “AI included” is not enough detail to price the purchase.

2. Check your employer’s app and recording rules.

   Before using transcription or translation on work conversations, confirm that the software and data handling are acceptable for that conversation. We have not audited this service’s processing or retention practices.

3. Value the basic headset on its own.

   If the boom and form factor do not meet your calling needs without the AI extras, wait until the service details are established. An unverified feature should not carry the buying decision.

What the feature list cannot settle

Clear calls and all-day comfort need evidence.

OpenRock advertises 58 dB/99.9% noise suppression and more than 10,000 microphone attachment cycles. The inspected sources do not give enough test conditions to translate those figures into a comparative call-quality score or a service-life guarantee. Microphone processing also does not establish noise isolation for the listener.

We have no call recordings, long-wear observations or repeated attachment test. A useful evaluation would use the same call app, room noise and microphone position for each headset, with consented recordings and wear notes. Until that exists, the detachable boom is a verified design feature rather than proof of better speech or comfort.

A different way to solve the office problem

Consider a wired headset when connection certainty matters.

The Jabra Evolve2 40 SE is an unpaid alternative to investigate if you prefer a USB connection and an on-ear headband. Jabra documents USB-A/USB-C choices, Mac/PC support, and distinct UC and Microsoft Teams variants. Match the exact connector and certification variant to your workplace; we have not tested its calls or comfort against the Link 20.

OpenRock’s 30-day return policy requires unworn/unused condition and original items; non-quality return transport costs fall to the buyer. Confirm any permitted try-on before use.

A clear pre-purchase answer should cover computer connection, microphone/mute behavior, boom-attached battery life, optional AI costs and return eligibility. Keep that answer with the order details.
