Why I Started BestPicks
I spent years buying products based on "top 10 best" articles that turned out to be rewritten press releases. The recommendations were driven by affiliate commission rates, not product quality. The reviews had never been within arm's reach of the products they praised.
I built BestPicks Reviews to be the opposite. Every recommendation is earned through data — real customer reviews, verified specifications, cross-platform comparisons. If a product doesn't deserve its spot, it doesn't make the list. Simple as that.
My Research Approach
I believe product research should be systematic, transparent, and repeatable. Here's how I approach every category we cover:
Start With the Full Market
I don't pick 5 popular products and call it a day. Every review starts by mapping the entire category — typically 15 to 40 products, including alternatives that most sites ignore.
Aggregate Real Data
I use AI tools (primarily Perplexity) to process thousands of verified customer reviews across Amazon, Best Buy, Walmart, and specialty retailers. The AI accelerates analysis — it doesn't replace judgment.
Score on What Matters
Products are scored on value, quality, reliability, user experience, and customer satisfaction. The weight of each factor is adjusted per category because what matters for a kitchen knife is different from what matters for wireless earbuds.
Keep It Current
Every review is re-researched on a 30-day cycle. Prices change, products get discontinued, new contenders enter the market. A review that's 6 months stale is a disservice to readers.
Editorial Standards
These are non-negotiable. They apply to every page on the site, no exceptions:
- Independence first. Affiliate commissions fund the site, but they never influence rankings. I would rather recommend a product with a 1% commission that's genuinely better than push a product with a 10% commission that's mediocre.
- No paid placements. No brand has ever paid to appear on BestPicks Reviews, and none ever will.
- Transparent methodology. Our entire research process is documented publicly. If it can't withstand scrutiny, it shouldn't exist.
- Honest about limitations. I use AI to accelerate research, and I say so clearly. If every product in a category is flawed, I say that too.
- Corrections welcome. If you find an error, email me. I'll fix it within 24 hours and credit you if you want.

Before starting BestPicks Reviews, I built web applications and automated systems for businesses. That technical background is why BestPicks runs differently from most review sites: the research pipeline, the automated monitoring, the structured data — it's all engineered to produce accurate recommendations at scale without cutting corners.
I'm based in the United States. When I'm not researching products, I'm usually building software or reading about how systems work.
